HERE’S WHAT HAPPENS…
It is best if the whole school comes off curriculum. Before I arrive we will have worked out a time table for
the day. Although there's not a lot of preparation, teachers will need to think through what they are doing
and collect materials to make buildings/habitats and characters.
KS2 have a 45 minute presentation and KS1 a 30 minute presentation in the hall. If there is a nursery, I'm happy
to then visit them as well. In some schools I work with specific year groups (especially years 5/6), in which case
years 3/4 often come in to the first session but workshops afterwards are geared for the older children.
A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE THIS...
8.30 meet with staff to make sure everyone knows what is about to happen (optional but a good idea if it is
my first visit to your school)
9.00 children in hall for introductory session - if a primary school, make this KS2
9.45 for primary schools, KS1 in hall OR a workshop (so we can fit 8 workshops in if only one key stage)
10.15 play time/visit the nursery
10.30 workshop 1
11.00 workshop 2
11.30 workshop 3
12.00 lunch
12.45 visit afternoon nursery
1.00 workshop 4
1.30 workshop 5
2.00 workshop 6
2.30 workshop 7
3.00 finished...
3.30 inset training is sometimes a possibility - see inset part of website
