Hello Disraeli School!
I am really excited about becoming your school’s Writer-in-Residence and working with your fantastic teachers to help your writing and reading become even more brilliant that it is already. I actually taught one of your teachers when she was in Year 3 – but I’m not going to tell you which one!
I am visiting you all on Friday 16th September. We’ll be making up a story in the hall. I do not know what will happen in the story because you will decide that by voting for ideas we think of. What I do know is that the KS2 story will be about aliens and the KS1 story will be about dragons and castles and maybe a princess, a king and a possibly a fireman.
After we’ve created our story, you’ll draw a story board about it. If you want to you can change what happened in the hall story to really make the story your own. Then you’ll write the story, choose your favourite part to edit and then publish it in a little book you will make. It’s going to be a great day!
I will bring some of my books to sell. Us Minus Mum is for Years 4-6 and The Milkshake Detectives is for Years 2-6. They will cost £5 each and if you buy one I’ll sign it for you. You can hear me reading a part of Us Minus Mum on the Us Minus Mum page of this website.
You can find out a lot more about me on this website as well – like what my favourite sweets are, where I drove steam trains and where I was born. The photograph on the right is of one of my favourite bookshops – it has a model railway running round the top of the book shelves! I love finding quirky things and always take photographs of them. Like this bird’s nest built on top of a lamp post in America or this wooden carving of a frog reading a book I saw in a park in Sheffield. There are so many wonderful things to notice!
Look out for interesting things today (and every day…) and I will see you on Friday!
